The thermostat on RS485 bus is a system composed of two parts: a control module (master) and a display connected via an RS485 bus. In a system like this can connect up to 16 displays to a single master module.

The master module must be connected to a PLC ONROM that is where you perform all operations on the devices and the intelligence of the system, so the master module performs the gateway function between the screens and the PLC, the data is requested by the master to the PLC and displayed on screens connected to the bus.
